Acupuncture that treats the cause,
not the spot that hurts.

We practice Saam — a seventeenth-century Korean system that uses four to eight needles, placed on the hands and feet, to correct the pattern driving your symptoms. Most major insurance accepted.

First visit is a full consultation and treatment in one session — 90 minutes.

The method

Why the needles aren't where it hurts

Most acupuncture puts needles into the painful area. Saam almost never does. Neck pain may be treated entirely from the hands. Back pain from the feet. It is counterintuitive the first time, and it is the reason patients who have tried acupuncture before often notice something different here.

  1. One

We work out the pattern first

Before any needle, we go through sleep, digestion, energy, temperature, menstrual cycle, and stress — plus tongue and pulse. In this system that information isn't small talk. It's the diagnosis.

  2. Two

Four to eight needles, chosen precisely

Not twenty. Each point is selected for a specific reason based on your pattern, and we'll tell you what that reason is. Most people feel very little on insertion; many fall asleep on the table.

  3. Three

We treat the root, not the branch

Two patients with the same complaint often get completely different treatments — because the same symptom can come from opposite causes. This is also why other things tend to improve alongside what you came in for.

Why our herbal medicine is different

We're translating the Donguibogam into English — chapter by chapter.

The Donguibogam (동의보감, 東醫寶鑑) is the foundational text of Korean medicine, completed in 1613 and listed by UNESCO in the Memory of the World Register. Almost none of its clinical chapters exist in English.

Justin has been translating them — original text, English rendering, and clinical commentary — and publishing the work openly. The reference now runs to more than two hundred formulas and two hundred seventy herbs. It is the same material behind every herbal prescription written in this clinic.

Accident and workplace injuries

Hurt in a car accident or at work? You pay nothing up front.

We treat personal injury and workers' compensation patients throughout Los Angeles, and we handle the paperwork side properly — which is what your attorney and your adjuster actually need from a provider.

Car accident & personal injury

We accept medical liens, so treatment costs are recovered from your settlement rather than your pocket. Whiplash, cervical and lumbar strain, soft tissue injury, headaches, and post-accident anxiety. Full documentation provided: initial evaluation, SOAP notes, progress reports, and a final narrative report.

Workers' compensation

We accept authorization through MedRisk and bill the carrier directly — the injured worker pays nothing for authorized treatment. Acupuncture is included in California's MTUS as an evidence-based treatment for musculoskeletal injury, and we treat within those guidelines.
